    53 Degrees North Music Conference

    Special Event

Hull’s music conference returns for its second year!

Following the enormous success of 53 Degrees North in 2017, Hull’s leading industry conference returns with even bigger and bolder ambitions of bridging the gap between the London-centric industry and The North.

The conference will take place over two days at Hull Truck Theatre on 4th and 5th June and blend cutting edge music panels, master-classes, engaging keynote speakers, networking opportunities and exciting live showcases for all attendees.

53 Degrees North is a Warren Youth Project initiative – a charity that has provided free support services to Hull & East Yorkshire’s most marginalised and vulnerable young people for the past 34 years. The Warren provides vital creative arts, mental-health and support services and has been the nucleus of music and talent development growth within the city.

Last year’s conference brought together some of the worlds leading music services such as Spotify, Bandcamp and Tunecore alongside key industry figures such as Nadine Shah, Melvin Benn (Festival Republic) and Vanessa Reed (PRS Foundation). The conference also hosted exclusive and exciting showcases at the legendary Adelphi Club featuring artists such as Idles, LIFE, Chiedu Oraka and False Advertising.

53 Degrees North’s Stewart Baxter commented, “Last years conference and live shows were a huge success and really established something vital and exciting which Hull has been crying out for. Having that callibre of people and conversation in Hull for the first time led to some huge developments and we cant wait to reveal the 2018 schedule and new developments”.

Speaking about last year’s conference, Festival Republic MD Melvin Benn said, “53 Degrees North is there to give people guidance, encouragement, belief, operational support, intellectual support about being ready to go out there and do it.”

53 Degrees North will be delivered in partnership with AOO Studios, The Music Consortium, Under The Influence, Keychange and supported by DIY, The Joe Strummer Foundation and TicketWeb.
