Abrasive Trees have been described as ‘utterly enticing’ by Louder Than War and ‘a transcendent experience of euphoric dissonance’ by Post-Punk.com.

Their music displays a willingness to experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within a post-punk, post-rock, post-folk or even prog  aesthetic. Exploring themes of loss, turmoil, and spiritual realisation, they use a combination of distorted and reverb-drenched guitars, cello textures, intricate melodies and driving drum beats to create a sense of atmosphere and intensity. When they use lyrics they’re often cryptic and evocative, painting vivid pictures of complex emotional landscapes.
 
Lauded by Aural Aggravation, RGM, BBC Introducing and many others, the band (led by Matthew Rochford) include members of Bella Union’s Silver Moth and have collaborated with Rothko, Jo Beth Young, Peter Yates (Fields of The Nephilim), Seb Rochford (Pulled By Magnets/Polar Bear), Steven Hill (Evi Vine) and Laurence Collyer (Diamond Family Archive). 

Overall, they blend elements of various alternative genres to create a sound that is both otherworldly and powerful, whilst their live performances are always impassioned and captivating.
