New Roots presents ADAM BEATTIE, full band show .London-based Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist ADAM BEATTIE’s roots in Scottish folk music, and a lifelong interest in jazz, blues and other folk styles inform his genre-spanning gritty roots style. With four albums spanning a 16 year career, he has played opening shows for many of his musical heroes; Bert Jansch, Jolie Holland and Sean Hayes, has collaborated on guitar and bass with Brooke Sharkey, Scott Hirsch and Micheal Chapman, and recently released an album on the legendary Rough Trade label as part of four piece PicaPica, alongside Radio 2 Folk Award winner Josienne Clarke, acclaimed songwriter Samantha Whates and Grammy, Mercury and MOBO nominated producer/engineer Sonny Johns (Ali Farke Toure). Beattie is also part of Band of Burns, the 12-piece band of singers and instrumentalists featuring stellar talents of the UK and Irish folk world.

He plays tonight with his full electric six piece band.

‘Incredibly Beautiful’ – Mary Anne Hobbs, BBC RADIO 6 MUSIC

‘A great ear for melody and a natural talent for lyric writing’ – Bruce MacGregor, BBC RADIO SCOTLAND

‘Carefully crafted, gently affecting songwriting with a dark twist’ – Roddy Hart, BBC RADIO SCOTLAND

NEW ROOTS is committed to promoting events that shine a light on up and coming talent in the UK alt-folk and contemporary roots music scene.  It’s committed to providing artists with an environment that is sympathetic to what they do, giving musicians the respect they and their music deserve - for this reason we ask for no talking and no use of mobile phones while artists are performing. Our music policy comes from the kitchen table, the roots of public performance- intimate, acoustic based, high quality musicianship with as little interference between performer and listener as possible.
