What is that blue stuff? ...and why isn’t it red?

For everything you never knew you needed to know about periods, there’s science comedian and sex educator Chella Quint. As heard on BBC Radio 4’s A Bleeding Shame and Woman’s Hour, Chella deconstructs menstrual stigma with wit, craftivism and brute force, joyfully inviting audiences to hang ten on a crimson wave. Delightfully taboo-breaking period comedy for menstruators and non-menstruators of all genders.

This will be a relaxed performance, taking place on the venue's ground floor. No real blood (or fake blood) is used in this show. STAINS™ is a proud spoof sponsor of Adventures in Menstruating.

    The Women in Comedy Festival

    Comedy

Described as one of ‘the UK's best comedy festivals’ by the Skinny, Greater Manchester’s Women In Comedy Festival is Europes only comedy festival dedicated to gender equality.

A ‘brilliant, brilliant festival’, full to the brim with female comedic talent. ‘Get it booked, get on down’ is the recommendation from City Life.

The Women In Comedy Festival, produced by Dulcet Sounds, takes place annually in Greater Manchester, UK during October.

‘Set up as a reaction to the sidelining of women comics by club owners back in the day, Manchester’s homegrown Women In Comedy Festival (set up by Hazel O’Keefe) has found its feet in a very short space of time - attracting the likes of actress Maxine Peake as a patron, joining Jo Enright and Isy Suttie.’ M.E.N

Building on the success of Laughing Cows Comedy Night, the Festival launched in 2013 as a volunteer-led festival presenting both established and up and coming talent across the spectrum of stand up comedy, comedy theatre, improv performing arts, film, spoken work, comedy writing and visual arts.

The fifth annual 2017 Women In Comedy Festival will take place from Thursday 19th until Sunday 29th October 2017

Actor Maxine Peake joined the team of festival patrons last year. “I’m proud to be supporting the UK Women in Comedy Festival as a patron. A festival filled with laughter combined with feminist principles taking place in the North … what’s not to support!”

The festival has grown steadily over the years since the first event in 2013 and encompasses solo shows, open mic events, a comedy writing competition showcases, galas, symposiums, networking events, training, panels, debates and workshops. The Women In Comedy Festival also offers training and mentorship opportunities with industry professionals and other leading creative organisations.

‘It’s a very positive event, attracting massive headline acts.’ (Manchester Evening News)
