After last year’s joyful ‘Christ-Mess Extravaganza’ the Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra are welcomed back to the Vortex this festive season with original big band music composed by enigmatic leader and baritone saxophonist Andrew Linham. Performing music from their first album ‘Weapons of Mass Distraction’ alongside reimagined Christmas classics, this ensemble is genre swapping their way into the future of contemporary big band music with original tunes unfettered by style and convention. Come meet us under the mistletoe and discover that the true meaning of Christmas is big band with a sense of humour.

“They play with guts and attitude, and manage to inject outrageous humor into even the most demanding of musical passages, striking a perfect balance between the sublime and the ridiculous” Ed Enright, Downbeat (Editor’s Pick) December 2017

Andrew Linham, Tommy Andrews, Tom Smith, Riley Stone Lonergan, Jonny Chung - Woodwind
Tom Syson, Sam Warner, Miguel Gorodi, + TBC - Trumpets
Tom Green, Vij Prakash, Chris Saunders, Barney Medland - Trombones
Rich Perks (gtr) Tom Millar (p) Pete Gavin (bs) Katie Patterson (drums)
