Cold Flame perform the music of Jethro Tull
COLD FLAME - Background
Formed in 1984 and based in north Derbyshire, Cold Flame are known for their original blues rock music interspersed with elements of progressive folk rock which has won them many fans across the UK and beyond. Known not only for their live performances but also for a number of acclaimed studio and live albums, the band are currently signed to Starring Records based in west Yorkshire. Whilst there have been occasional line-up changes over the years, the current band line up has remained intact since 2015.
In 1998 Cold Flame decided to present audiences with a unique tribute concert as a five-piece band dedicated to the music of Jethro Tull. During the last 25 years, these shows have seen the band headline indoor and outdoor shows, rock and biker festivals as well as blues clubs across the UK as well as performing in mainland Europe including Jethro Tull fan Conventions in both Italy and Spain. These opportunities have seen Cold Flame occasionally joined on stage by several ex Jethro Tull musicians including Clive Bunker, Paul Burgess and Gerry Conway as well as Tull guest musician and international violinist Anna Phoebe and Martin Barre’s current bassist Alan Thompson. Cold Flame have also supported Jethro Tull off-shoot bands – Blodwyn Pig, Wild Turkey and more recently the Martin Barre Band. Cold Flame performances of Jethro Tull music has gained the five-piece band a solid reputation within the music business both in the UK and Europe and the band has been occasionally featured in national music magazines like ‘Classic Rock’ and ‘A New Day’.
The concerts
The Cold Flame concerts at Backstage on the Green Hotel on Friday April 12th and Saturday  April 13th 2024 will see the five piece band mark their debut at the venue. The band will be performing many of the classic Jethro Tull songs from across the decades with a particular emphasis on the albums released between 1968 to 1980 representing Tull’s heyday. Given the double date feature, Cold Flame will be performing two separate concert performances with one show dedicated to the early years of the band’s history from their very beginnings up to and including the band’s fourth album ‘Aqualung’. The second show whilst highlighting classic Tull material will feature a range of classic Tull songs from across the decades.

The line up
Pat Rowbottom – vocals, bass guitar, alto recorder
Rob Barnes – vocals, electric and acoustic guitars
Mark Parkinson – flute
Joe Orban – keyboards
