Yard Act formed in Leeds in September 2019 when Ryan Needham found himself temporarily living in James Smith's spare bedroom. The two had been pub associates for years, but their new living circumstances served as a catalyst for their friendship and creative partnership which saw them fuse James' interest in spoken word with Ryan's primitive proto-punk demos using an ancient drum machine and borrowed bass guitar. They released their first material in March 2020, coinciding with you-know-what, and with just three singles (The Trapper’s Pelts, Fixer Upper and Peanuts) and three gigs to date, Yard Act have staked out a territory all their own. Setting up their own imprint Zen F.C. they released their debut 7” which can now only be found for exorbitant sums on Discogs, they’ve scored two 6music playlists, and they’ve won a growing fanbase with their coruscating, narrative driven, spoken word dance-punk. Now girding their loins for a 2021 filled with new music, new recordings, debut novels, and (fingers crossed) plenty of live shows, Yard Act have most definitely marked our cards as one of UK’s most exciting prospects.

Hailing from Nottingham, BEKA was raised on the likes of 'Quincy Jones' ‘Back on the Block' album, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan and discovered her love of pop when Spice girls entered the scene. Inspired by music that’s both thought-provoking and soulful, her inquisitive nature fuels a great deal of the emotional energy that oozes through her debut single "I'll Be There" - which was chosen as the BBC Introducing Track of the Week on Radio1 in February 2021. This early success coupled with her collaborations including; More Than Friends (with HONNE) and more recently, BEKA's feature with Arkansas duo joan for brokenhearted (together), make for an exciting lead into her new single "My One". On this latest offering, BEKA delivers a liberating pop song that’s written as an unrestrained declaration of love. It’s her most upbeat release so far, reflecting the giddy energy BEKA expresses in her lyrics, yet still maintains the empathetic sound of her previous releases.
BEKA recently announced her debut EP titled "I'll Be There" for release May 7th 2021. -

Finn is a 20-year-old artist from Shepherds Bush, West London. He makes up one of the five members of the rap group E/M (Elevation Meditation.) Finn writes all of his own music if its Hip-Hop, Grime or Garage, which has earned him a respectable following on Spotify & SoundCloud. Finn has performed numerous shows this year including opening for ELIZA at Scala with Louis Culture, performing at O2 Brixton for SlowThai and, more recently, support for all the dates on the LAVA LA RUE Tour. "His new EP Good Tea is a series of vignettes of Foxell’s personal life, ranging from relationships with family, social issues, romance, mental health, and being broke, making this project a nice microcosm for the feelings of all of Britain’s youth." (J. Gregory / Elevator)

yunè pinku’s music taps into many facets of being a young person in the early 2020s. Half-Malaysian and half-Irish, the hotly-tipped newcomer layers wistful, syrupy vocals over production that draws from the UK rave canon but with a restless, textural slant. Traces of her childhood spent growing up in London can be heard in the shuffly garage rhythms of her production, although as a teen she was more into 70s and 80s music. Having recently dropped her mesmeric first two singles ‘Laylo’ and ‘Affection’, yunè pinku is now on the cusp of releasing her debut solo EP. “The project overall is about sort of anxiously attending things and the constant sense of trying to be tougher.” It’s music for pre-drinking while applying eyeliner; the messy afters; the 8am Uber journey home. Prior to this, yunè collaborated with rising Australian dance star Logic1000 on ‘What You Like’. She has also been co-signed by Joy Orbison, who invited her to contribute a guest mix on his Radio 1 residency.
