As with Mozart, Poe, Van Gogh and countless others, Arthur Russell only received proper recognition for his genius after what was a short but hugely influential life in the 80s New York music scene.
A maverick in the truest sense of the term, his collaborations ranged from Philip Glass and Steve Reich to Nicky Siano and David Byrne, excelling from classical and avant garde cello through to floor filling disco and new wave, to dub and garage.
Performing a selection of deep cuts from his eclectic body of work will be virtuoso cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson plus special guests.
