MATSHIDISO (pronounced Mat-sea-dee-so) is a half South African (the origin of her name comes from the Sotho tribe, meaning blessing or consolation) half Jamaican musician, born and raised in London.

A classically trained pianist, she is also a composer, arranger and singer-songwriter. With a background in human rights law, Matshidiso’s passion is to use music and creativity to promote human rights and justice-based projects.

Matshidiso's music has influences of early Alice Coltrane and Nina Simone, the storytelling nature of Joni Mitchell, the neo-soul jazz sounds of Robert Glasper all underpinned by the melodic jazz influences of her South African roots and the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim and Hugh Masekela.

She has 2 EP’s Nursery Rhymes for Grown Folks (2012) and Fragile (Spring 2016) along with 2 singles, The Water and Running.
