MATUKI

Matuki is a UK Afrobeat behemoth with a hypnotic, forward-thinking and relentlessly high-energy take on the style. Led by Gambian percussionist and singer Ebou Sanyang, the band have recently added world-class kora player Suntou Susso to their line-up of sizzling horns, tuff bass-lines and interlocking guitars. With nods to funk, psychedelia and disco along the way, their explosion of a live show has gained them an enviable reputation, leaving you gasping for more.

Highlights for the band so far include performances on Glastonbury's Glade Stage, headline shows on the Chai Wallah stage at Shambala, Green Man and Secret Garden Party, and support slots for Quantic, Craig Charles' Funk 'n' Soul show, the Souljazz Orchestra and Dele Sosimi. Their single 'Injo' was released on 7" vinyl by independent Manchester-based label Stutter and Twitch, and their upcoming album is due for release this winter featuring a surprise guest artist.

"Matuki are already clearly an accomplished ensemble and cleverly introduce elements that make their musical fusion eminently enjoyable"  -Songlines Magazine
