A sublime musical mash up as we welcome three astounding local, Southampton talents, The Dead Freights, James Baxter & Jack Francis.  All different and totally unique in their styles plus all attracting some notable, well deserved attention from some important people in the music industry, being noted as musicians you’ll only come across once in your life.  Pretty impressive stuff.

And The Brook doesn’t want to miss out on the rollercoaster these boys are on, so we’re shouting loud about having all three on our stage on Friday 20th July, for what is set to be one of the hottest gigs in Southampton this year.

  • The Dead Freights

    The Dead Freights

    Indie Pop

Hot Four piece Rock n Roll Band from Southampton.

Melodic Vocal harmonies, bluesy guitars and driving shuffles. This Southampton quartet offers an exciting show with a Rock n Roll attitude. The Dead Freights bring a unique feel to a classic sound, comparable to The Beatles and The Libertines.

  • The Collision

    The Collision

    Alternative Rock

The Collision are a young Indie Pop/Rock band from Portsmouth, UK that formed in 2016. They released their debut EP Never Gone in November 2017 to rave reviews and have a strong local following that have allowed them to play headline sell out shows at The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth and The Joiners in Southampton as well as festivals such as Common People and Victorious on the South Coast.

Originating as frontman Lewis Smith's solo session band after he had to give up his aspirations of being a professional sportsman due to a life threatening brain infection, the band quickly realised they worked better together than as a session band and began writing songs together and putting together their engaging and energetic live performance.

They were nominated for the Portsmouth News' Guide Award for Best Band in 2017 and are heading out on a nationwide UK tour in September and October.

  • James Baxter

    James Baxter

    Singer-Songwriter

At 21 James was travelling across the United States, spending time in studios from Albuquerque to Los Angeles, taking influence from the deserts and wilderness of the Mid West and West Coast.

Returning to the U.K, James brought back big influences from across the Atlantic, and blended them with his British-born idols. With nods to the likes of James TaylorRyan AdamsPaul McCartneyElliott SmithNick Drake and Paul Simon, this Southampton songwriter is set to showcase the technicolour melody and incessant lyricism of his album in waiting.

Summer will see James head out on tour to promote his debut record - The Paradise EP.

  • Jack Francis

    Jack Francis

    Americana

"In little over a year, Jack Francis went from playing his unique brand of Folk/Soul/Americana at small local gigs in his hometown of Southampton, to appearing at major UK festivals such as the Isle Of Wight, Victorious and Stone Free Festival at the O2 Arena.

His debut EP 'The Van Wyck Expressway' has been championed by BBC Introducing, as well as receiving national radio play on Tom Robinson's Radio 6 Music show. His self-titled second EP was released at the start of 2017 and the lead single 'Play On' was debuted on BBC Introducing shortly after."

"Hauntingly wondeful acoustic tunes tinged in old school Americana." - Southampton Music Magazine

"Brilliant voice and amazing songwriting talent!" -- BBC Introducing
