  • Bad Manners

    Bad Manners

    British Ska

Bad Manners formed in 1976 whilst still at school. Signing to Magnet Records in 1980 the band scraped into the Top 40 with their debut single “Ne-ne-na-na-na-na-nu-nu”, a cover of the 1948 song by Dickie Doo and the Dont’s.

The follow up single “Special Brew” went straight into the UK Top 10 at the height of the 2-Tone movement and was the first of many anthemic songs for which the band are known. In 1980 alone the band released two more chart topping singles “Lip Up Fatty” and “Lorraine” along with their debut album “Ska ‘n’ B” and it’s follow up “Loonee Tunes”.

Bad Manners became a constant feature in the singles chart over the next few years with tracks such as “Can Can”, “Just a feeling”, “Walking in the Sunshine”, “Buona Sera”, “My Girl Lollipop” and more.

  • The Pigeon Detectives

    The Pigeon Detectives

    Indie Rock

Platinum-selling Leeds band The Pigeon Detectives are back with new single 'Lose Control' from their fifth album 'Broken Glances'.

Formed in 2002 The Pigeon Detectives are Matt Bowman on lead vocals, Oliver Main and Ryan Wilson on guitars, Dave Best on Bass, and Jimmi Naylor on drums. Friends from school and having known one another since they were 12 the band enjoyed a meteoric rise starting in Leeds where they signed with Local label Dance to the radio, and growing into the UK Music scene rapidly with their first record 'Wait for Me' going on to sell over half a million records and resulting in headlines at London's Alexandra Palace and Leeds' Millennium Square arena 1 year after release.

'Broken Glances' is a more eclectic LP than previous albums and was recorded with Richard Formby; a producer associated with bands like indie crooners Wild Beasts, leftfield London vocalist Ghostpoet and 'mind-expanding synth pioneers' Spaceman 3. Speaking about the move to work with a more leftfield producer singer Matt Bowman says "We wanted to work with someone that would challenge us in the studio and put us out of our comfort zone, not let us take any easy ways out with songs. Richard did this and made us change our approach completely from previous records. We ended up ditching a lot of tunes that had a sound that could have been on the first albums as a result."

  • The Christians

    The Christians

    Soul

Renowned for an endless string of soulful yet socially aware hits such as Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest for the World, What's in a Word, Hooverville, Words, Father, The Bottle and many more The Christians enjoyed huge acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s.

Still headed by enigmatic lead singer Garry Christian, The Christians will be playing their well known back catalogue and one or two favourites selected from newer albums. Catch them out live tonight at the award winning Under the Bridge and find out why BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans said of The Christians live show that 'it was the best gig I've ever been to'.

  • Ferocious Dog

    Ferocious Dog

    Celtic Rock

Ferocious Dog are the new noise on the block – and are surprising everyone with their rapid ascent. There is no way they’re following any hipster templates – fronted by a big burly man with a mohican who sings impassioned political songs of broken Britain whilst his band seethes like a punky Levellers – they are the music business’s worst nightmare – a great band who are going to make it without anyone’s permission”. (John Robb, Louder Than War, Glastonbury, 5th July 2016).

Ferocious Dogs 3rd studio album, The Red Album, is released on November 10th 2017 and is already receiving rave reviews. The Enemy Within tour will feature tunes from this album as well as old favourites from previous releases.

2016 was a defining year for Ferocious Dog. From playing Billy Bragg’s Left Field stage at Glastonbury in front of a massive crowd, to sharing the stage with The Levellers on their sold out European and UK tour in November and December and many sold out shows in-between. Ferocious Dog left the audience under no doubt that they had witnessed a band that has the talent and passion to go on to dominate the folk/punk music scene.

With European and UK tours completed, and slots at some of the UK’s and European favourite festivals, 2017 has been another exciting year so far in the ascent of this exceptional band.

Ferocious Dog offer a full-on six-piece sound that encompasses folk infused with rock, reggae and Celtic vibrations. The combination of instruments creates a palette of sound that offers infinite variations: going in hard to get the audience up and moving, or slipping into melodic passages and dub-like fusions. The songs are deeply personal and their fans can really identify with the words. Dan Booth, on fiddle, and John Leonard, playing just about everything with strings, bring a huge amount of intricacy to the breakneck pace of their songs. Les Carter (ex Carter USM) on guitar and the rhythm section of Alex Smith and John Alexander hold things together brilliantly, and with Ken Bonsall’s lyrics and sheer likability, you have a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Ferocious Dog are well known and popular for their high octane live performances.

"They are the music business’s worst nightmare – a great band who are going to make it without anyone’s permission”. John Robb, Louder Than War

  • Tom Hingley & The Kar-Pets

    Tom Hingley & The Kar-Pets

    British Alternative

The Kar-Pets are an Inspiral Carpets tribute band, but with a notable difference from other tribute bands in that the Kar-Pets feature the former lead singer of the Inspirals, Tom Hingley. Tom was a member of the Inspiral Carpets from 1989 to 2011 and sang on all the bands many chart hits as well as singing on four of their albums.

With Tom Hingley at the helm the Kar-Pets are made up of Dickon on farfisa duties, Phil on guitar, Ste on bass and Malc on drums.

The Kar-Pets will be performing songs from the 30+ years of the Inspiral Carpets including the hits, such as This Is How It Feels, Dragging Me Down and Saturn Five as well as a selection of cover versions such as Gimme Shelter and Tainted Love. Come and see the hits of a classic Manchester band playing in a venue, or festival near you soon.

Tom says “The songs are the stars, come along and hear them sung by the singer who originally sang them. This is a chance to truly indulge in nostalgia and to make it new for another generation!”
