"Extraordinary" - The Guardian ****
"Confident, assured and truly unique" - Fatea Magazine
"Truly original..." "Her new album's a killer" - fRoots

Seasoned British songwriter and producer RUTH THEODORE’s work fascinates audiences with its gripping honesty and distinctive lyricism. A cancer diagnosis and treatment throughout a global pandemic would have floored most human beings but even writing from the chemo chair, Ruth kept on creating and has emerged fearless from the flames with over two albums worth of new material and a tireless creative drive to share her perspectives through her renownedly original art.

Performing over an array of unconventional guitar tunings, and obscure yet cunningly catchy piano, Ruth’s songs of life, death, love, the human condition, science and let's face it… by now pretty much everything, are that of a skilled writer in command of, and having fun with, the idea of contemporary songwriting. Delivered with effortless unapologetic passion, Theodore's live performances will take you places, make you laugh and cry and often both at once. Expect captivating vocal dexterity, musical prowess, disarming wisdom and poetic originality.

Having self produced three of her own critically acclaimed records to date, and following her most recent collaboration with award winning US producer and bassist Todd Sickafoose (Anais Mitchell/Ani Difranco), Ruth is back collaborating as co-producer with Todd and percussionist Mathias Kunzli (Regina Spektor, Lauryn Hill).

“I believe Ruth to be one of the most innovative, original, exciting and underrated artists in the UK. To come out guns blazing and armed with so much new music is testament of her dedication to her art and her career.” - Ian A Anderson (fRoots magazine / Podwireless)

“Occasionally recalling Kate Bush and Ani DiFranco, this is a beautiful, sad, wonderful LP” - MOJO ★★★★

"... [an] impressive ability to excite audiences with her truly original, fascinating and thoroughly entertaining music..... a wealth of poetry, satire and pure, natural artistry.
'Cactacus' is a wonderful, captivating album." - Folk Radio UK

"...a beautiful voice, backed it up with amazingly accomplished guitar skills, songs of substance..." "...[her] lyrics are Dylanesque in scope and skill" - Red Guitar Music

"Ruth writes alternative folk and blues music but at heart she is a pure punk San Franciscan beat poet" - Todd Sickafoose
