Ex-Nurse Ex-Cop Sallyann Fellowes presents her debut stand-up show Out of the Blue. Zany, crazy and madcap tales from hospitals, police stations and life in general according to Sallyann.

Out of the Blue written and performed by Sallyann Fellowes is an autobiographical stand-up comedy show based on her careers as a nurse, police officer and many other bizarre happenings in her life. Sallyann has always wondered how so many weird things could happen to one person.

The seeds for this show were sown after Sallyann retired from the police due to injury and decided to move into performance art instead. According to Sallyann really most things are funny and she uses a gallows humour philosophy to reflect on everything in life. Now venturing into stand-up, this rich vein of material has gone into the writing of a show full of quirky and original observations on life in general and true tales of madness and mayhem that she feels compelled to share with you, after all, it would be rude not to.

    Comedy

Described as one of ‘the UK's best comedy festivals’ by the Skinny, Greater Manchester’s Women In Comedy Festival is Europes only comedy festival dedicated to gender equality.

A ‘brilliant, brilliant festival’, full to the brim with female comedic talent. ‘Get it booked, get on down’ is the recommendation from City Life.

The Women In Comedy Festival, produced by Dulcet Sounds, takes place annually in Greater Manchester, UK during October.

‘Set up as a reaction to the sidelining of women comics by club owners back in the day, Manchester’s homegrown Women In Comedy Festival (set up by Hazel O’Keefe) has found its feet in a very short space of time - attracting the likes of actress Maxine Peake as a patron, joining Jo Enright and Isy Suttie.’ M.E.N

Building on the success of Laughing Cows Comedy Night, the Festival launched in 2013 as a volunteer-led festival presenting both established and up and coming talent across the spectrum of stand up comedy, comedy theatre, improv performing arts, film, spoken work, comedy writing and visual arts.

The fifth annual 2017 Women In Comedy Festival will take place from Thursday 19th until Sunday 29th October 2017

Actor Maxine Peake joined the team of festival patrons last year. “I’m proud to be supporting the UK Women in Comedy Festival as a patron. A festival filled with laughter combined with feminist principles taking place in the North … what’s not to support!”

The festival has grown steadily over the years since the first event in 2013 and encompasses solo shows, open mic events, a comedy writing competition showcases, galas, symposiums, networking events, training, panels, debates and workshops. The Women In Comedy Festival also offers training and mentorship opportunities with industry professionals and other leading creative organisations.

‘It’s a very positive event, attracting massive headline acts.’ (Manchester Evening News)
