British singer-songwriter SCARLETTE FEVER enlists the USA Platinum artiste DISHWALLA’s J.R. Richards also reuniting with Paul Barry’s Ivor Novello winning songsmith skills for the title track on her new album ‘Back to Life’. A homegrown recording initiative with her band of studio merry musos, Tom Gearing, Jeff Calvert and Pete Craigie for a stunning audio serenade crafted in an out of Covid restrictions.  This collection of songs is an effervescent ode to a society bursting forth from the pandemic where the survival mantra of ‘let the music save me’ was on the tip of every creative’s tongue.

Music is not what I do, it’s who I am,” voices Scarlette, noting how she grew up infatuated by headstrong women in music with big hair and big voices; Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston. “Even though they’re from different genres, they all have one thing in common… their music is raw and comes straight from the heart. That’s exactly what you get from me.

Featuring the foot stomping ‘Gone Is Good’ released earlier in the year and ‘Where I Belong’, sees the singer unshackled from ongoing heartbreak and into a life filled with adoration for her wife Ezel – the muse behind the music. Guitar driven lullabies with a little bit of Pop and a little bit of Rock entice the listener. ‘Helena, Good Life and Boy & Girl were co-produced by Paul Simm whose credits include Massive Attack, Amy Winehouse and Neneh Cherry. This is a huge leap forward in sound and songwriting for Scarlette, “It’s about falling madly in love and madly in lust”, the stuff of Shakespeare. A few years back, the Mike & The Mechanics tour was the catalyst  for making many of the songs works in a standard band line up, which catapulted Scarlette into the role of rhythm guitarist as well as being equally comfortable playing pianoforte. Myles Myerscough-Harris (Bob Harris’s musical DNA) and the queen of Nashville, Leslie Satcher have added a splash of country.
