It's an all-Romans Hopcraft family affair at the Jazz Cafe. Father Robin plays the trumpet in Soothsayers, while his twin sons are musicians in their own right: Ben is the frontman of indie rock sensations Childhood, while Miles' moniker is as beatmaker Wu-Lu.

Soothsayers have been producing, recording and performing original afrobeat and reggae-inspired music since they were founded by Robin and saxophonist Idris Rahman in 1998. They have toured extensively, recording 5 studio albums and a series of vinyl singles to help cement their position as key figures in the London live music scene.

Soothsayers' music has helped inspire a generation of artists, and none more so than the music of his two sons. Brixton five piece Childhood, of whom Ben Romans Hopcraft is the frontman, put out their second album Universal High in July, to universal acclaim. The album underlines Ben’s laid-back approach to making music, drenched as it is in the sounds of old-school pop and retro soul. Wu-Lu, meanwhile, is an artist who has been on our radar for a while. The NTS and Touching Bass mainstay is one of the London hip-hop scene’s most exciting talents, and has previously performed at the Jazz Cafe, supporting friend and collaborator MNDSGN back in September.

This is the first time that the three family members have played a show together, and their individual styles complement each other perfectly.
