Talinka defies boundaries between styles and genres. It is where folk, early music, jazz and tango merge into simplicity, harmony and warmth. Talinka creates a new distinctive sound that explores the unique and diverse journies of four British musicians: Jenny Bliss, a baroque virtuoso artist, Yaron Stavi, one of the leading bass players in Europe, Gilad Atzmon, an internationally acclaimed Jazz saxophonist with an affinity for ethnic sounds and his wife Tali, whose singing has been paired up with her theatrical career. The outcome of this musical journey is a natural breathing, deep and spacious sonic adventure. The unusual choice of instruments and combination of personalities creates an amalgam of past and present, East and West. It creates a natural continuum between ethnic, jazz, tango and early music. It transcends beyond musical boundaries. It is all about music for the sake of music.
“Talinka – such an evocative name – wittily appropriate for this intimate set so sensitively arranged around Tali’s straight from the heart, true and soulful voice.” Robert Wyatt
VORTEX FUNDRAISING T-SHIRTS:
March 2 2018 two iconic musicians and old friends Dave Holland and Evan Parker joined forces in a fundraiser to show, as well as give their support to the Vortex Jazz Club – a fine institution that has help many a musician at the start of their career. The club has existed without any core funding after its establishment by founder David Mossman over twenty-five years ago. The club needs financial help to keep its operations going. We hope you will show your support by taking out a membership, coming to gigs or donating. You can make a donation by clicking the “donate” tab. We also have some new fundraising T-shirts with a fab design that was commissioned by Tim Berne (Snake Oil) with graphics by Steve Byramn.
