    Restless

    Rockabilly

Neo Rockabilly band Restless celebrate their 40th anniversary with their first London concert in six years.
Their classic debut album "Why Don't You...Just Rock" (1982) is concsidered one of the finest recordings from the Neo Rockabilly scene.

Restless were regular headliners at the legendary "Klub Foot" nights at the Clarendeon Ballroom in London's Hammersmith and the group supported The Clash, The Pogues, Ramones, The Damned and more.
  • The Polecats

    The Polecats

    Rockabilly

The band formed in 1977 in north London. The original line-up was Tim Worman (a.k.a. Tim Polecat, vocalist), Martin "Boz" Boorer, (guitarist and vocalist), Phil Bloomberg, (bassist), and Chris Hawkes (drummer), who originally played under the name "Cult Heroes." Finding difficulty persuading promoters to book them on the rockabilly circuit with a name sounding "too punk", they adopted Hawkes' suggested band name The Polecats. Hawkes was later replaced by Neil Rooney; who was subsequently replaced by John Buck. The Polecats played rockabilly with a "punk sense of anarchy and helped revive the genre for a new generation in the early '80s"

The band were first signed by the fledgling British rockabilly record label Nervous Records, and recorded their first single "Rockabilly Guy" at guitarist Alan Warner's "Lane Studios" in 1979. Formerly with the "Foundations" band, Warner toured and recorded with the Polecats for about a year

The release of ‘Wild Night’ and ‘Fight Back in 1981’ finally established us as an independent force, and we started to get support gigs with bands like The Clash which in turn brought us to the attention of the main stream music press. By the end of 1981 we were headlining our own sell out gigs all over Europe. Then that we started to get interest from major record companies. We could not consider any of the label offers because we were contracted to Rockhouse/Charly, but with the benefit of hindsight maybe that was a good thing. At least it stayed pure.

    Rockabilly Revival

Have you ever been to see a band from the 70's and turned up to find out the only remaining original member was the drummer, singer or bass player? Well, try going along to see Matchbox.... not only will you hear their string of hits from the era, including top tens such as When You Ask About LoveMidnight Dynamos and not forgetting their million seller classic Rockabilly Rebel, but you will also be amazed to find the exact line up that made all those records. If this is not unique, it is very rare indeed.

Matchbox was originally formed back in 1971 with a line-up that included both Steve and Fred. Graham joined them from the Hellraisers in 1977, but it was their amalgamation a little later with Jimmy and Gordon from the Cruisers that formed the band we know today. Their big breakthrough came soon after when they were selected to back Bo Diddley and support Carl Perkins on a sell-out European tour. Following reviews in the music press, they were approached by Magnet Records and offered their first major recording contract.

The rest, as they say, is history... The release of Buzz Buzz saw the band get enormous airplay as it crept to a respectable position in the charts. The next one, Rockabilly Rebel, became a worldwide hit, quickly followed by When You Ask About LoveMidnight Dynamos and Over The Rainbow. Over 5 Million records were sold in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, etc. Numerous TV shows and tours with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry and many more, established the band as a major headline attraction. Throughout this period, Matchbox always remained true to their roots.

Eventually time and changing tastes meant the hits stopped coming and the various members went off to do other projects. Graham still performed occasionally with whichever rockabilly desperadoes were available at the time. Then, back in 1996, as the rockabilly and rock'n'roll scenes saw another surge of interest, someone had the good sense to get these five guys back together again to do a couple of shows. Then they did a couple more...

    Matchbox have come home!

    'DANGER ROAD'

2018 has seen the latest line-up for The Hicksville Bombers, featuring lead guitarist/vocalist Dave Brown, Landon Filer on double bass and Paul Saunders on drums. Dave has continued to write songs and now with Landon and Paul adding a great feel and passion to the Bombers, they are tearing it up with their original raw wild sound.

Wanting to capture that live Bombers sound on disc, they headed for Sugar Rays Recording studio. Using the late 40’s and 1950’s recording techniques with original vintage equipment, they recorded exactly the same way they did back then, all Lo-Fi with no overdubs, all the tracks are originals apart from - Red Right Hand and Jungle Rock.

The Hicksville Bombers are excited about these recordings and the way things are heading, even though sometimes you have to live dangerously it may be worth the risk.

    "see you on the road"

  • The Revolutionaires

    The Revolutionaires

    Rockabilly

Established within the ‘hotbed’ of the North East music scene in the UK, they power out jumpin’ hot rhythm & blues in their own indomitable hard hitting style.

Primarily, they are influenced by 1940’s and 1950’s R&B. In particular, Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Roy Brown. However, they have adopted a harder and more aggressive approach, synonymous with modern blues artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duke Robillard, Jools Holland and Mike Henderson which helps create their own high energy sound.

Over the last two decades The Revolutionaires have established themselves on the UK and European Rockin’ circuit, as well as the Blues scene.

They have toured extensively both home and abroad, performing at festivals in Ireland, France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Malta and Dubai.

Highlights include performing at festivals with artistes such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Sting, Tom Jones, Hugh Laurie, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Walter Trout, Eric Bibb, The Mavericks, Albert Lee, Snake Davis and Dave Edmunds.

Now also touring with their Big Band project which consists of extra horns and pianist, The Revs are hitting the Festival circuit with this power house line up and big sound.

The band has recorded five CDs to date, containing a collection of Hot Rockin' R&B tracks. Each CD captures the 'rawness' and sheer energy of the band, who like to give their performances a 'hard-edged' vibe!

If you 'get yourself down' to a Revs gig, in the words of the

    Ronnie Molleen tune...

    ...." We'll be rockin' up a storm tonight! "
