Tommy Atkins will play The Cluny 2 on Saturday 12th October in support of his debut single, Wild in The Wind.
The rising country artist describes the ballad as “emotional, but celebratory. It mourns the loss of a friend but focuses on being grateful for that person ever being in your life. I hope this song can provide comfort and make you smile, even if there is a tear in your eye.”
The track was recorded in Nashville by producer Dr Ford and features legendary steel guitar and dobro player, Smith Curry (Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Little Big Town), guitarist Chris Condon (Billy Ray Cyrus) and Tommy’s co-writer, Anna Pearson, who lends a beautiful harmony part. The song was mastered by GRAMMY-nominee and Infrasonic owner, Pete Lyman (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile).
Wild in The Wind is released on September 27 to all major download and steaming platforms.
The last few years have seen Tommy make regular appearances on drivetime radio shows and stages across the world, including a month-long trip to Nashville where he performed at legendary venues like The Bluebird Café and Bobby’s Idle Hour. Following a successful string of headline shows in the U.K. through 2018 and 2019, the dynamic performer is excited for what lies ahead.
“I’ve tried to infuse my shows with the magic of a writer’s round by telling the stories behind the songs, but I also love to let loose on the upbeat songs with my band and bring a bit of downtown Nashville to the stage. It’s kind of becoming a show of two halves and audiences are really responding to that.”
Popular local artist, JD O’Neill, will support Tommy and his band at The Cluny 2.
