SHANGHAI BLUES + BILK + The HEMINGWAYS

SHANGHAI BLUES

This fresh guitar driven four-piece from Walthamstow, East London launched themselves onto the scene with their debut single Run in November 2016. Since then the band have gone from strength to strength, flaunting their darker musical prowess as seen with their debut music video release Swim.

Independent and proud, Shanghai Blues have already traveled the length of the UK within the first 12 months and continue to sell out London shows to their insatiable fanbase. Known for their raucous stage presence they have headlined iconic London venues including Nambucca, Hoxton Square Bar, Camden Barfly and recently toured the UK alongside Glass Caves Theme Park and Palace. This is their return to Three Wise Monkeys after a great show here earlier in the year.

BILK

Essex based working class indie 3 piece Bilk, having all recently turned 18 years of age, write honest songs to inspire the youth of today. Their music being a social commentary to the challenges facing young people. The band spent last year gigging extensively in Essex building a strong grassroots following, leading to their debut play on BBC Introducing at the end of 2017. With influences ranging from the Jam, The Streets and the Arctic Monkeys through to Eminem and Dizzee Rascal, Bilk are a truly young modern indie band with an attitude and message they are determined to reach the masses.

THE HEMINGWAYS

The Hemingways are a rock band from London and Essex consisting of Louis Takooree, James Burrage, Ben Butler and Jack Ames. The group have influences such as Fleetwood Mac, Kings of Leon and Led Zeppelin. Despite being only in their early 20s, some members have been playing together for close to 10 years resulting in a musical chemistry not expected from a band of their age.

The band have had a big summer so far including a headline slot at The Lord Mayor's Celebration Festival in association with BBC Introducing Norfolk.

Their third single ‘Want it All', produced with Tom Donovan (Monster Florence, Animal Noise) is available now on all platforms.

DJ BEN HOWARD

will be playing indie classics throughout the night.
