A darkly funny comedy about an incarcerated man who does whatever he can to honour his late pal and make him a legend.
When Sean’s best pal Davie tragically dies on the day of his release from prison, the system prepares to cremate him in a council funeral with no guests, no gravestone, and no story. From his prison cell, Sean makes a promise: Davie won’t go out like that.
Haunted by Davie’s ghost and inspired by their favourite films, Sean launches himself on an impossible quest to escape custody and rewrite his friend’s ending before the end credits.
From Stephen Christopher & Graeme Smith (Dancing Shoes, The Scaff), The Legend of David McKenzie is a funny, fast-paced play about friendship, films, myth making and the desperate things we do to honour the people we love.
