Breabach Celebrate 20 Years with Landmark Anniversary Tour
Multi‑award‑winning Scottish folk band Breabach are set to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a major tour kicking off at the end of this month. Renowned for their exhilarating blend of Gaelic vocals, intricate step dance and world‑class musicianship, the band have carved out a unique place in the international music scene — one that both honours tradition and pushes boundaries.
This milestone year comes with another historic achievement: Breabach are the only Scottish band – and one of just two UK acts, alongside Mumford & Sons – invited to perform at the first ever overseas edition of the legendary Grand Ole Opry. The performance will be broadcast across both BBC Two and BBC Radio 2 in the UK, as well as throughout the United States, where the band’s career continues to flourish.
Breabach’s celebrated sound, weaving together highland bagpipes, fiddle, whistle, guitar and double bass with soaring Gaelic song, places Scotland’s heritage on the global stage. Their powerful live shows also feature traditional step dance — a vibrant reminder of the cultural threads that link Celtic traditions to the origins of Country and Americana music, symbolising a musical journey that has travelled full circle across the Atlantic.
Across two decades, Breabach have won widespread acclaim, including multiple Scots Trad Music Awards (Album of the Year, Folk Band of the Year), and performances at major festivals and venues across the globe, from Sydney Opera House to Central Park, New York. Their 20th anniversary tour promises a career‑spanning set alongside new material that highlights their enduring creativity and relevance.
The tour includes two major London appearances. A performance at the Royal Albert Hall on 26 September will be a centrepiece of the opening leg, while a standout headline concert at Union Chapel on 10 October will offer audiences the chance to experience a full‑length set in one of the capital’s most atmospheric venues.
