Formed in 1983, Buddy Curtess & The Grasshoppers quickly became one of the UK’s most electrifying live bands — twice named Time Out’s ‘Best Live Band’ and touring with Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, The Cure, Bad Manners and The Stranglers.
Signed to Gyrate and Phonogram Records, the band released charting singles including ‘Hello Suzie’, ‘Shout and Shoobee Baby’, cementing their place among the era’s most dynamic live acts.
Their high-energy shows took them from The Prince’s Trust at Wembley Arena to Glastonbury’s main stage in 1986, with TV appearances on The Tube, Jools Holland’s Hogmanay and Ruby Wax’s Don’t Miss Wax.

Buddy Curtess and the Grasshoppers were a Rock 'n' Soul group who dominated the live music scene in the 1980's and were named Time Out Magazine's best live band for 2 years running.
They toured with Roy Orbison and supported The Beach Boys at Wembley Arena. They also played alongside The Cure, The Stranglers, BB King, Bo Diddley, and Eddie Floyd amongst many others.
Buddy Curtess and the Grasshoppers were regularly on TV appearing on 'The Tube', 'Saturday Night Live', 'Jools Holland’s Hogmanay' and more. -
