Hatful of Rain Announces Highly Anticipated New Album “Waystation” and Album London Launch Show
Folk and roots music veterans Hatful of Rain are thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated new album “Waystation”. Known for their blend of fine harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and varied instrumentation, the band’s latest project draws on five years of writing and playing with newer members, Scott and Max joining original members Phil and Chloe. To mark the album release, Hatful are hosting a London celebration of these new recordings at the bands favourite venue – Camden’s Green Note.
“It's exciting to have another chance to put our music out there” said lead singer Chloe Overton “life has a way of presenting you with experiences that just have to be reflected on, throwing up tunes and moods – and just getting us all rocking!”
“Waystation” will feature 11 new original tracks composed by the band, many rooted in the band’s traditional signature folk and americana style and others pushing in a rockier direction featuring Scott’s drums and Matt’s electric guitar twang. With its rich acoustic guitar work, intricate harmonies, and a mix of traditional and contemporary influences the new album is a represents yet another evolution from their earlier albums.
About Hatful of Rain
Formed in 2009, Hatful of Rain have attracted an affectionate following with their fusion of folk and Americana sounds. Known for their emotive storytelling, warm performances and great harmonies – not to mention their own unique genre – “melonjolly” (cheerful tunes with miserable lyrical content), the band has been praised for their ability to blend traditional forms of old time and bluegrass music to their own ends. Their previous albums “Way Up on the Hill”, “The Morning Key” and “Songs of the Lost and Found” garnered critical acclaim, sessions with Bob Harris and many plays by Mike Harding and Mark Ratcliffe on the Radio 2 Folk Shows.
