After founding Fun Lovin' Criminals and writing and producing their seminal hits, Huey Morgan marks 30 years since the release of Come Find Yourself with a brand-new band and a 13-date UK tour this October. Three decades on from the era-defining debut that gate crashed the Britpop party with unmistakable New York swagger, Morgan is reclaiming the songs that changed his life and soundtracked a generation.

When Come Find Yourself landed in 1996, it didn’t simply arrive, it exploded. Amid Britpop’s euphoric blur, Fun Lovin’ Criminals carved their own lane with a cinematic, genre-hopping sound that fused rock ’n’ roll, funk, blues, soul, hip hop, jazz and Latin rhythms into something effortlessly cool and completely original. Streetwise yet sophisticated, it was a Lower East Side state of mind delivered with groove-heavy basslines and razor-sharp storytelling.

“After 30 years, this record seems as fresh as it did when I first released it. I am so happy to be playing this again. Please come and check it out. It's gonna be awesome.” Huey Morgan

Why do we have a restoration Levy?

Put very simply, our restoration levy is an additional charge added to your ticket price which is directly invested back into the venue. This money is used for critical maintenance, repairs, and preservation efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the building.

As the 3rd oldest church building in Glasgow, dating back to 1836, Saint Luke's requires ongoing care and special restoration to maintain its historic character and facilities. This levy will enable us to fund essential projects that will safeguard the venue's future as a vibrant hub for live music and community events.

If you would like to be kept up to date on progress with how we are using this fund then please follow us on social media @stlukesglasgow, and sign up to our mailing list where we will send out quarterly updates on the improvements that your donations are helping us make.

Huey Morgan: The Fun Lovin' Criminal

  • Huey Morgan

    Funk

Huey Morgan is the much loved, charismatic front man of acclaimed rock and HipHop group Fun Lovin’ Criminals, a group formed in 1993, releasing a total of seven albums.   The New Yorker, though, is also a fine DJ who has a whole lifetime’s worth of experience to draw upon when he is laying down one of his compelling selections. He does so all over the world, at big parties, more intimate get together and acclaimed clubs and festivals in equal measure.   In every DJ set, he retains a great sense of pace and balance and always excels at segueing the right records the right time.   In terms of sounds, Huey, who was born in New York in 1968, is obviously a skilled guitarist, but also has a passion for many other types of music. Being half-Puerto Rican and half-Irish, he has a varied musical background that finds him just as able to reach for loose funk, soul, reggae, cool jazz and hip-hop as indie rock, and indeed anything else.   Notoriously amusing and full of charm, Huey always carries this over into the sets he plays in clubs, meaning you can be sure that your audience will have the time of their lives.   What’s more, this rock renaissance talent is also regularly on TV shows like Nevermind the Buzzcocks and is a fine TV presenter and writer with a wealth of knowledge about the music he plays.
