Two contemporary masters unite in an intimate duo setting, performing standards and original compositions with deft restraint, interconnectedness, and astounding lucidity.
Kurt Rosenwinkel (Guitar) and Gerald Clayton (Piano) are generational talents who are indisputably among the greatest performer-composers in modern jazz.
Rosenwinkel, fourteen years Clayton’s elder, is widely lauded as the most influential guitarist in any genre of music of the last three decades. Clayton, in turn, has built a vast catalogue of recordings as a sideman and leader, including his highly acclaimed Blue Note release Happening: Live at the Village Vanguard.
Together, the duo of Rosenwinkel and Clayton will present and improvise upon material from the former’s celebrated album A Lovesome Thing, a live recording from the Paris Philharmonic featuring the late Geri Allen on piano.
