Meeting and writing together in Melbourne earlier this year, Mathilde Anne & Eve Simpson present a night full of heartbreak, hilarity, and hair-raising stories.
MATHILDE ANNE: When artist Mathilde Anne (AUS) tells her story, you know she’s speaking for you too. Whether in haunting beauty, or lyrically shooting from the hip, Mathilde speaks her mind. Wildly writing from personal experience and feeling, her sights are always set on offering a sense of understanding and representation. Mathilde released her debut single "I’ve Had Enough" in 2022 under Sandhill Records. Her follow-up singles, including "To Be Honest” and “Break feat. Des Cortez”, addresses personal experiences with her sights being set on offering audiences a sense of understanding and representation. Known for her captivating live performances, Mathilde continues to make waves in the broader music community. Her debut album, Normal, produced by James Seymour, came out in August 2024 with the fan-favourite single "Haunt You (When I’m Gone)". ‘Normal’ features a diverse, genre-bending tracklist that explores themes of self-acceptance, toxic relationships and personal empowerment through Mathilde’s enchanting and distinct vocals. The album explores the challenges of life as a woman on the spectrum and accepting one’s truth in a world that often feels unaccommodating. With an unapologetic approach, ‘Normal’ also celebrates those differences - promoting strength, self-approval, and just being a straight-up, bad-ass bitch when you need to.
EVE SIMPSON: Sandancer-born Eve Simpson (UK) has been reaching audiences across the world with her folk and americana-infused pop, performing to crowds from New Zealand to Nashville. Combining the folk-pop influences of Hozier and Maggie Rogers, with the nostalgia of Joan Baez and Patsy Cline, Eve’s classic voice and playful storytelling leaves audiences reeling for more. Working with Extra Mile Music, Eve has written with prolific writers such as Beth Nielsen Chapman, Shelly Peiken, and Pam Sheyne, working towards her debut album. Chosen as BBC Scotland's Track of the Week, The List’s Future Sound Artist, and Horus Music’s Spotlight Artist, Eve has played two headline tours across the UK, performing at London Fashion Week, Celtic Connections, Edinburgh Hogmanay, and Edinburgh’s Festival Fringe. With airplay across BBC Introducing and BBC 6 Music, Eve writes for other projects across film, TV, and trailer, notably writing for a FOCAL International award-winning film.
