Manchester-born pianist, producer, and composer Matt Wilde discovered jazz through an unconventional journey.
Starting out as a self-taught beatmaker, growing up Matt made tracks for friends in the grime scene before falling in love with jazz through the sample-heavy works of Madlib, J Dilla, and Pete Rock. This led Matt to dig into improvisation and harmony, crafting a sound that bridges jazz, hip hop, and electronic music.
Guided by values of accessibility and creativity, Matt has become a key voice in the UK's boundary-pushing jazz and beats scene, with his music being championed by BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 6, Jazz FM, Worldwide FM and more.
2025 sees the release of his second album, collaborations with artists in the UK jazz scene, and a very special live show at SJQ.
