Miranda Sex Garden’s sold out one-night show at London’s 100 Club in July 2022, was a long-awaited spring blossom after twenty years of winter. In the autumn of 2023 they returned for another London show, followed by a UK wide tour. The band look forward to overseas performances and releasing new material in the coming year. Rooted in madrigal traditions and later cross-bred with goth-industrial and progrock cuttings, their musical hybrid has borne many fruit. They topped the classical charts with 1990’s Madra. They’ve toured with the likes of Depeche Mode, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Hole and Einstürzende Neubauten. They’ve released 4 follow-up studio albums, including their last – the critically acclaimed, show-stopping Carnival of Souls. Their current arrangement includes founding member Katharine Blake as vocalist, with Trevor Sharpe (Minty, The Servant) on drums, Teresa Casella (Wasted Youth) on bass and Justine Armatage (The Cesarians) on keyboards. Founding member and guitarist Ben Golomstock died in 2018, but his sound lives on through Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Gong). Performer Bev Lee Harling completes the group. Katharine Blake will be known to many as the founder of classical chart topping group Mediæval Bæbes, who have released 11 studio albums and received an Ivor Novella award and two Emmy nominations for their unique choral sound.
