Australian singer-songwriter NIGEL WEARNE returns to the UK this September. Marking a return to his roots as a folk songwriter, he launches his latest album ‘The Lone Reckoning’. A raw, emotive, stripped back rendition of his 2023 award-nominated album ‘The Reckoning’.
Self-produced by Wearne, ‘The Lone Reckoning’ features the same 11 songs as the full band album with 3 additional bonus tracks, all recorded in their original form; solo and acoustic.
Nigel’s had a huge couple of years touring internationally, performing at some of the world’s most prestigious music festivals including Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (USA), Cambridge Folk Festival (UK), MerleFest (USA), Philadelphia Folk Festival (USA) and Adelaide Guitar Festival (Australia).
Hailing from Gunditjmara Country in the deep south of Australia, Nigel Wearne saunters after dark in the music of the night, blending blues, folk and Americana-noir. A deep thinker and truth seeker with a penchant for all things peculiar, he sings of human frailty, grace and the cosmos; songwriting that cuts to the bone.
“Tailor made for fans of Tom Waits… with fire and brimstone lyrics that recall Nick Cave” – Rhythms Magazine
“Poignant and mysterious” – Maverick Magazine UK
