About
Award winning pianist and composer Reuben Goldmark leads his trio in a Live EP Recording. Fresh from recording their debut album earlier this year, the band will be premiering new compositions whilst reinventing their back catalogue. The concert will be recorded by Grammy-nominated engineer Sonny Johns and will serve as the foundation for an upcoming EP release.
Over the past three years, the band has developed a unique approach to the classic piano trio format. Lyrical melodies and hooks playfully dance over high-tech beats and grooves that seem to have a life of their own — constantly in flux and transforming at will. Their sound is compact and focused, with the leader’s unmistakable piano touch in the foreground. United as a single entity, they navigate intricate polyrhythms and metric modulations with such ease that the complexity fades into the periphery, revealing music filled with emotion and rooted in joy.
Reuben was a finalist in the esteemed BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition and his compositions were featured on BBC 4 and BBC Radio 3. He was awarded the Dankworth Prize for Jazz Composition in both 2022 and 2023, making him the first ever back-to-back recipient of the award. As a performer, he has graced numerous prestigious venues across the UK, including select appearances at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, Snape Maltings as part of the Aldeburgh Festival and Saffron Hall supporting Erland Cooper. Reuben is a Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Young Artist. He recorded his debut album in April 2025. Produced by mentor and friend Kit Downes, it is set to be released in mid-2026 and will also feature two of Amsterdam’s most in demand musicians: Reinier Baas on guitar and Ketija Ringa-Karahona on flute.
