Join us to celebrate 2 days of brand-new plays by 5 of Scotland’s most exciting new voices in writing.

Emerging writers Amina Beg, Elliot Scott, Isaac Frost, Lola Rose Wood and Poppy Hope Smith have worked alongside award-winning playwright Douglas Maxwell to push their creative boundaries and craft 5 original short plays for the A Play, A Pie and A Pint stage.

Directed by Fiona Mackinnon and performed by emerging young actors, these early-stage plays invite you to question, examine and absorb the compelling stories these young writers have to tell. Stories that explore identity, belonging and possibility in Scotland’s evolving new writing landscape.

Doon Hill – An Inaccurate Retelling
Written by Poppy Hope Smith
Reverend Robert Kirk’s evening walks through Aberfoyle lead him to the hidden fairy folk of Doune Hill, who slowly reveal themselves to him. But after boasting of their world in the village tavern, he must urgently make amends before his fate is changed for worse.

Stop, Look, Listen
Written by Elliot Scott
From the side of the road, the lollipop lady watches. She knows every face, every name, in her own little world of certainty and safety. That is until the arrival of the new family in the village, with their familiar faces and their familiar lives…

Deep Blue
Written by Lola Rose Wood
Deep Blue is a ‘gutsy’ incision into a centuries-long conflict between technical innovation and the natural world. Does fuel for the future always come at the expense of our present? Who benefits from this ‘progress’? And why are we all so obsessed with whales?

Please note: Plays will be performed once on one of the allocated dates. If you wish to see all plays, attendance at both performance dates is required. Exact performance line-ups will be announced in the coming weeks.
