After selling out the iconic Glasgow venue King Tut’s without releasing any music, a
momentous debut headline show described as “a night to remember, perhaps one
which will be boasted as an ‘I was there’ sort of moment for years to come” (Northern
Exposure Mag), releasing his debut EP ‘Growing Pains’ back in June and following it
up with stand alone single ‘BACK IN A HEARTBEAT’ which saw a track of the week at
BBC Scotland, Shay O’Dowd is rolling into his next EP with new single ‘Imagine It’
and a huge headline show in his hometown to crown a HUGE year.
Inspired by the likes of Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, and Noah Kahan, Shay finds
writing about other people most interesting. “I am passionate about people and
communication; both of which have served me well in the world of songwriting. I value
authenticity and honesty as an artist, writing songs that capture the beautiful
complexities of life.”
SHAY SAYS: “I started writing ‘Imagine It’ after watching the heartbreaking series ‘One
Day’ on Netflix. It really got me thinking about the whole idea that sometimes we hold off
telling people how we really feel until it’s too late. It’s almost as if we think we have
endless amounts of time and an abundance of moments with the people in our lives. I
wrote this song from the perspective of someone living with the grief of all the
unexpressed love, much like in that series I was inspired by”
Why do we have a restoration Levy?
Put very simply, our restoration levy is an additional charge added to your ticket price which is directly invested back into the venue. This money is used for critical maintenance, repairs, and preservation efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the building.
As the 3rd oldest church building in Glasgow, dating back to 1836, Saint Luke's requires ongoing care and special restoration to maintain its historic character and facilities. This levy will enable us to fund essential projects that will safeguard the venue's future as a vibrant hub for live music and community events.
If you would like to be kept up to date on progress with how we are using this fund then please follow us on social media @stlukesglasgow, and sign up to our mailing list where we will send out quarterly updates on the improvements that your donations are helping us make.
