Acclaimed Australian songwriter Liz Stringer made the move to the UK in early 2024, in pursuit of a new creative life. Venerated in her home country, Liz has twice been nominated for the Australian Music Prize, was premier folk festival Port Fairy’s Artist of the Year in 2023 and named as ‘An Emerging Legend of Australian Song’ by Woodford Folk Festival in 2020.

Liz has carved out a unique place in the Australian industry and a cult-like following due to her staunch independence as an artist and her ability to connect deeply with audiences. She achieves the rare combination of emotionally intricate, chest-heaving songs with her exceptional skill as a guitarist and piano player and her quick, sardonic wit, garnering loyal fans and the highest esteem of musicians across the world.

From 2020 to 2022 Liz toured as a backing vocalist with Australian luminaries Midnight Oil, has recorded an album at Wilco’s The Loft studios in Chicago and, most recently, created her newest release The Second High with producer/engineer Beni Giles (Lianne La Havas, Oscar Jerome) in Brixton, London. Released in March 2025, the album, described as ‘intelligent and assured’ by The Guardian, sees Liz broaden into a wider range of her musical influences, using jazz, soul and funk as a canvas on which to squarely centre songs which draw on themes of self-actualisation, social inequity and the dogged pursuit of truth and authenticity.

Liz will be playing a run of intimate solo shows in select venues in October. Do not miss this exceptional artist, experienced and revered in Australia and a shining new talent for audiences in the UK.

With very special guests Jessie Reid and Paul Gibson.

Liz Stringer is one of Australia’s most admired and versatile songwriters and instrumentalists. Hailing from Melbourne and recently located to London, Stringer counts seminal artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and Midnight Oil (with whom she toured the world as backing vocalist and occasional instrumentalist between 2020 and 2022) as fans. Her most recent album, 2021’s First Time Really Feeling, released through Courtney Barnett's Milk! Records, won an Australian Independent Record Award and debuted at #14 on the ARIA charts in her home country. Stringer recorded the follow-up full-length album in Brixton, London in Summer 2023 with award-winning UK-based producer Beni Giles. Due for an early 2025 release, this record sees her lean further into her influences not yet explored in her recorded music, including soul, funk and jazz, marking a musical departure while maintaining her extraordinary storytelling at the heart of each track. Liz Stringer’s notoriously powerful live performances and melodically rich, story-based songs have earned her a unique place among the most important Australian songwriters of the modern era.
