"Lo-fi rock. Two brothers. Not related. As a growing staple in the North London scene, stepbrothers never fail to bring their chaotic energy to the stage and studio. Utilising their DIY recording space, their music has a sincere naïveté akin to Car Seat Headrest, Wilco, and Of Montreal."
Morning Coyote is a Canadian alternative rock project based out of
Edmonton, Alberta, founded by singer-songwriter Sawyer Begg in 2024 during his
time in MacEwan University’s music program. In studio, Begg writes, performs,
records, and produces the music. As a performing act, Morning Coyote enlists a
rotating roster of musicians, typically familiar with and trained in jazz and
improvisational styles to reimagine the studio tracks for a live context, such that
each performance becomes a unique articulation of Begg’s songs. These
articulations vary across performances— sometimes loud, shoegazey rock,
sometimes intimate and acoustic folk-jazz, depending on the demands of the
particular performance and venue.
The group is closely associated with fellow Edmontonian band paro!,
sharing many members and often collaborating. After two release under the name
Bedroom Drum, the project was renamed Morning Coyote and began performing
live across Edmonton at the beginning of 2024, opening for peers in the Edmonton
music scene.
