The Ashley Sherlock Band, a vibrant blues rock band who are establishing a solid reputation of their own. It’s very easy to see what the fuss is about. The Ashley Sherlock Band is a tight, slick outfit that blends styles and genres with consummate ease. The delicately balanced set is an effortless fusion of blues, classic rock, country blues, rock & roll, smooth jazz and soul characterised by powerfully commanding drums, basslines that segue from funky to fluidly smooth and spiralling, sweeping guitar solos that compliment an eclectic and strident vocal that is a cross between Thom Yorke and Matt Bellamy. Opener ‘Been Here Before’ sets the scene with its chunky soulful blues, reminiscent of Humble Pie at their very best whilst the semi acoustic heavy soul and subtly layered soundscape of ‘Trouble’ encapsulates everything that is great about modern blues/rock crossover music. The true strength and undeniable talent of the band is summed up in their exhilarating cover of Robert Cray’s ‘Because of Me’ which makes the song sound like it was written yesterday. Brimming with energy and individual versatility, The Ashley Sherlock band is one to watch out for in the future.
