The Outers
Jean Philippe Dodane (Phil) is a French Guitarist who first came to the Albion carried away by the winds of new life and attracted by the vibes of “Cool Britannia”. He arrived with not much more than a couple of books in a suitcase, a guitar and tunes in the brain to what was for him the musical El-Dorado. The Smiths, Bowie, Suede, The Beatles and fragments of French Literature were his escape from the banality of a French Provincial town.
Ade (Adetun Ramota Seriki), a British born from Nigerian descent was studying Musical theater at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. She had a curiosity for a variety of musical sounds and a passion fascination for 80 and 90s pop culture. She started her own arts events creating space for a diverse range of creatives but had an itch for her own artistic expression and knew she wanted to hear heavy guitars and that's when she replied to an ad from Phil Dodane on finding a musician. It was her curiosity that created this partnership that has now expanded into The Outers. Ade and Phil met via a musician website and started to collaborate on songwriting. The band name, as the missing part of the puzzle went naturally during a brainstorming episode on a social media chat. Thrown in the storm of the London Music scene, the Outers experienced different line ups. They were joined by Dev Shah on drums and Avery Nixon on second guitar who they met at two different Outers shows. Clare Caldwell joined on bass to complete the band.
