Introducing The Vimala Rowe Quartet

Charlie Flint - piano    Mikele MonTolli - Bass    Darren Beckett - Drums

World Jazz vocalist debuts her new show....

VIMALA ROWE: Vimala’s new original music is created from eclectic influences of music from Jazz and Blues to African and Indian folk, UK Indie and Soul.

She tells the story of her direct experience of having multiple ‘mothers' before being adopted by white academic parents.

Music, artists and poetry from Billie Holiday to William Blake always helped her navigate through these sometimes challenging and joyful experiences and they are the cornerstones to the show.

Taking wings, she travelled the globe, living for 9 years in Bangkok, where she joined Thailands first rap band TKO.  After this pulsating nocturnal lifestyle she then spent a year in Maharashtra, India studying northern Indian Classical vocals and meditation.

She then felt the call of home. Vimala returned to England where after a period of reclusive reflection, she reemerged and started to make a name for herself as a sensational new talent on the Jazz Scene, where she is now justly celebrated.

This performance showcases story telling and music inspired by this journey.

‘Artistry of the highest order’  Simon Callow
