The Wannadies were were formed in Skellefteå, in Northern Sweden in 1988.

My Hometown, the first single from their 1990’s self titled debut album made quite an impact in the Nordics.

But it was after the release of You and Me Song, taken from their third album Be a Girl, that the rest of the world opened their eyes to The Wannadies.

The song found its way into the Hollywood blockbuster Romeo & Juliet, featuring Leonardo di Caprio and Claire Danes and Great Britain exploded as it appeared in the iconic English TV-series Coronation Street.

Yes, after a string of infectious power pop hits like You and Me song, Hit and Might be Stars and tours all over the world, the band decided to take a break in 2003.

A break that lasted 19 years!

2022 saw the long awaited return of the band once crowned Pop Genius!
