Middlesbrough’s Provenance have quickly established themselves as a formidable force, blending classic indie pop sensibilities with raw, gritty undertones. Their long-awaited debut EP, released in 2025, has marked a major milestone in their rise, cementing their reputation as one of the North East’s most exciting new bands.

The band’s fanbase has grown rapidly thanks to their visceral live performances, which have earned them slots at festivals across the country as well as support shows with the likes of Circa Waves, The Clause, and more.

Drawing inspiration from scene aficionados Sam Fender, Catfish and The Bottlemen, The Strokes and Corella, the band made up of Joe Bradford (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Theo FJ  (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Jack Obern (Drums) and Harry Blythe (Bass) have already made a large impression in their short time together, gaining widespread tastemaker support from NE-Volume Magazine, NARC, BBC Introducing as well as packing out venues early into their career.

Recent releases have seen the band grow from strength to strength, achieving Track of the Week on BBC Introducing in the North East as well as earning themselves a slot on the main stage at Twisterella Festival as well as playing alongside: The K’s, Ocean Colour Scene and The Coral.

I’m really losing my patience with this all if I’m honest, I’m going to see if I can go through to boro before Gathering Sounds and talk with them all in person and see where they’re at. It just seems like whilst they’re at uni it seems a bit pointless me trying to manage something thats a bit unmanageable.
