Winter Gardens
With shimmering synths, atmospheric pads, layered guitars, and the celestial dual harmonies of Ananda Howard and Jasmine Ardley, Winter Gardens guide the listener through a vibrant spectrum of dynamic, contrasting sounds. Their music fuses ethereal shoegaze textures with driving post-punk energy and a brooding gothic undercurrent, while cryptic yet intimate lyrics add to its haunting allure.
Since their inception, Winter Gardens have secured support slots for high-profile acts including Echo & The Bunnymen, Gary Numan, Modern English, Piroshka, and Pale Blue Eyes. Festival regulars, the band recently played Rockaway Beach in January alongside OMD, Self Esteem, and Peter Hook & The Light.
2024 has ushered in a bold new lineup, leading to European performances (Left of the Dial, Supersonic) and numerous radio plays (BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing). Their music video “Moonjockey”—written and directed by band songwriters Jamie Windless and Ananda Howard—was nominated for four awards and took home Best Music Video at the Prague International Film Awards.
Their debut EP Tapestry, released via Austerity Records, earned critical acclaim with glowing reviews from For The Rabbits, Punktastic, Upset Magazine, and Germany’s VISIONS Magazine. Led by the standout single “Zigzanny”, the release was championed by Melita Dennett of BBC Introducing, earning the band recognition as a BBC Featured Act and Introducing Pick of the Year. Follow-up singles “Crystallise” and “Moonjockey” both received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.
